Christmas Gifts Kids Can Make

OOOH! It's that time of year again!! Before we dive into the Christmas gifts kids can make, we would like to wish all a healthy and happy holiday season!

This is definitely our favorite time of year but it can get frantic rather quickly and before you know it, Christmas day is upon us.  I always love how surprised I am EVERY YEAR when all of a sudden I look at the calendar and only have a few days left before the big day!  I know the calendar and I know how to count and yet the days just seem to slip away.

So with that in mind we decided to make our Christmas gifts list for girls and boys of every age. This fun page has just some of our favorites. Click on images for details.

Whether you're looking for Christmas gifts for girls or boys, baby or older kids; there's something for everyone.

Homemade Gifts Kids Can Make

While store bought presents are great, homemade presents are one-of-a-kind gifts with a personal touch (not to mention not having to shop for days on end).

Here is a list of our top ten Christmas gifts that kids can make.

Cook Mix in a Jar

Love this idea from recipe.com! This is a gift that is easy for kids to do and packs quite a presentation. Best part is, you can make multiple gifts at a time and the sky is the limit on decorating ideas.  This also makes a great gift any time of year and works well for many occasions. And my favorite thing about this Christmas gift idea is that it's a wonderful mommy & me project! Click on image for recipe.

Here's another cookie-mix-in-a-jar presentation idea from fiskars. These mason jars are just too cute with the holiday fabric; really dresses them up. Also love the foam flower and the whisk. See the picture tutorial here.

Handprint Gifts

Isn't this handprint calendar beautiful?   What a heartwarming gift!  Easy and fun to do.  Great grandparents gift!

No-Sew Fleece Pillow

Oooh! LOVE this project! Why?  Because it's a no-sew craft that's easy for kids to make. I made this with my girls many years ago and it was so much fun to make together.

My favorite part of doing this project is that this fleece fabric comes in cartoon character prints and sports prints and holiday prints, etc., so this makes for a great year-round gift idea.

Haven't had a chance to make our video tutorial on this craft but here's one we found on youtube that shows you how.  The only thing different about the one we made was that we used a ready-made pillow (like this one). They come in many shapes and sizes and materials range from foam to feather-down.

Melted Bead Bowl

Here's another favorite gift that's easy and fun for kids to make. You can make them by laying beads (you can use these) flat in 1 layer in an ovenproof bowl. These make great gifts and children are proud to show off their art! Baking is approximately 15 minutes so it's easy to make several gifts in under an hour.

Can you believe we still have and use one of the ones my girls made over 10 years ago? I remember it was right before Mother's Day when my girls invited friends over to make these melted bead bowls as presents for their moms. Each girl made one and they were all beautiful. I took this quick picture (below) of our melted bead bowl so you could see ours. We use it to place loose change! I can't remember exactly, but I think we used these pony beads.

Wondering how they got that shape? The girls took the cooled (but still a little warm) beads out of the bowl and placed it over a can of soup (any can will do) and then let it drape down to finish cooling so they all ended up with very unique shapes. The girls had tons of fun making them and their moms loved their one-of-a-kind gift! To make your own, see this easy picture tutorial here or here.

Bath Bombs Kids Can Make

Bath bombs make great gifts for family and friends and you can make them simple or make with aromatic scents like natural lavender shown in picture above from Red Ted Art.

You can make them by just pressing the mixture together into a ball or use silicone ice trays to make different shapes. There are many fun shapes like these heart ones here or this super cool octopus shape here.

Whichever your children decide to make, it will be something unique and special and much more meaningful because they made it themselves. For recipe and instructions click here.
